Before we get started, some of you GameStoppers may doubt my collectibles bona fides. With that I present the prize of my collection, an unopened 1990 Marvel Universe Series 1 trading card box, manufactured by Impel. Worth about $500 these days.

This is the first Marvel Universe trading card set and pre-dates Disney’s Marvel Universe movies. I also have a 1991 full set unopened of Upper Deck baseball cards that is so worthless that it has eluded my camera. In any event, all part of the trading card bubble in the early 1990s. I was working at IBM earning good money for the first time ($7.425/hour), and it went into stocks and cards.

It was a good introduction for a young Michael James into the world of the unlimited limited supply of collectibles. I will save further discussion of this for now.

So here we are with the second and final post in the GameStop series.
